Wilkerson Road Baptist Church started in a little one room white house at the intersection of Williamson Street and Wilkerson Road with Shorter Ave. Baptist Church of Rome, Georgia as our Mother Church.
The church was dedicated on October 25, 1959, with our first pastor, Reverend Frank Ford and the church constitution was drawn up June 12, 1960 with 16 charter members. Our first church conference was held July 9, 1960.
On October 17, 1960, money was borrowed to buy the old white building as well as renovations to the back of the building.
Wilkerson Road Baptist Church was accepted into the Floyd County Baptist Association in October of 1964 as the 63rd church in the Association.
On May 6, 1964, the church voted and accepted a motion to borrow the money for a new brick sanctuary. Soon afterward, the Sunday School rooms were added and the final payment towards the mortgage was made in February 1969.
The fellowship building and gym were added in 1994 and the last addition to the auditorium was in 2000. The Lord has blessed us greatly throughout the years and continues to bless our church family today.
